VisuScience QuikVue

The QuikVue is a compact smartphone-compatible ocular imaging device designed for rapid corneal and ocular surface documentation across diverse clinical applications. Featuring dual white and cobalt blue LED illumination with Wratten filter capability, secure air cushion smartphone attachment, and rechargeable operation, it combines professional-grade imaging quality with true portability to deliver an economical alternative to digital slit lamps for pre-test screening, contact lens fitting assessment, corneal pathology documentation, and practice revenue enhancement.

Key Features

  • Comprehensive Dual Illumination: Integrates warm-tone white LED with two adjustable brightness levels for natural ocular surface visualization, plus cobalt blue illumination with Wratten filter for fluorescein-enhanced imaging—enabling clear documentation of corneal staining, Ortho-K lens fitting assessment, blepharitis detection, corneal ulcers, superficial punctate keratitis (SPK), and pre/post-operative monitoring.
  • Blepharitis Detection & Revenue Growth: Enables high-resolution eyelid margin and meibomian gland orifice imaging during pre-test screening, allowing doctors to visually demonstrate blepharitis and MGD severity to patients, improving awareness and treatment compliance while creating natural opportunities to recommend and sell lid hygiene products and cleaning solutions as part of comprehensive dry eye care.
  • Ortho-K Lens Fitting Verification: Provides practical cobalt blue fluorescein imaging capability for evaluating contact lens fitting—quickly identifying whether Ortho-K lenses are too tight or too loose on the cornea—with easy documentation of fitting outcomes and follow-up comparisons to optimize lens performance, enhance patient education with visual evidence, and support both in-clinic and mobile screening applications.
  • Clinical Documentation Efficiency: Delivers clear imaging of most corneal pathologies including ulcers, SPK, and surgical outcomes, providing ophthalmologists and optometrists an economical, portable documentation solution that supports disease progression monitoring, patient education and compliance, visual archive building for long-term treatment planning, and professional clinical communication without the expense of traditional digital slit lamps.
  • Universal Smartphone Compatibility: Features innovative air cushion design that securely attaches to most smartphones with main cameras within 5 cm of the phone’s edge, working seamlessly with default camera apps or the specialized VisuDoc ophthalmic case management application (available on App Store and Google Play) for enhanced workflow integration and EMR documentation.
  • Portable Power & Design: Equipped with rechargeable mini Li-ion battery with USB Type-C charging and intuitive LED indicators (blue for operation, flickering for low battery, green when charging complete), offering lightweight portability ideal for pre-test workflows, post-operative monitoring, outside screening events, satellite clinics, mobile practices, and even veterinary ophthalmology applications.

Description

QUICK EYE IMAGE DOCUMENTATION

QuikVue is a portable ocular imaging device that works with a smartphone or tablet to capture and document corneal and ocular surface conditions. With cobalt blue illumination and Wratten filter, it supports Ortho-K lens fitting, blepharitis  detection, and corneal disease imaging such as ulcers and SPK. Ideal for pre-test workflow, post-op monitoring, outside screening, and even veterinary ophthalmology, QuikVue is an economic alternative to digital slit lamps.

DETECT BLEPHARITIS & BOOST PRACTICE REVENUE

QuikVue works with a smartphone or tablet to capture high-resolution images of the eyelids and ocular surface, making it easy to identify signs of blepharitis during pre-test screening. Doctors can show patients their eyelid condition, improving awareness and compliance. This clear visual communication not only supports better patient education but also helps practices grow revenue by recommending and selling lid hygiene and cleaning solutions as part of ongoing care.

CHECK ORTHO-K LENS FIT ANYTIME, ANYWHERE

QuikVue is equipped with cobalt blue illumination and a Wratten filter, making it a practical tool for evaluating Ortho-K lens fitting. Practitioners can quickly check whether a lens is too tight or too loose on the patient’s cornea. QuikVue allows for easy documentation of fitting outcomes and follow-up comparisons, helping doctors optimize lens performance and educate patients with visual evidence. Its portability makes it suitable for both in-clinic pre-test workflow and outside screenings.

EFFICIENT CORNEAL DISEASE IMAGING & DOCUMENTATION

QuikVue allows ophthalmologists to capture clear images of most corneal pathologies, including corneal ulcers and superficial punctate keratitis (SPK). It is also suitable for pre- and post-operative documentation, giving clinicians a practical way to record surgical outcomes and monitor recovery.

Compared with expensive digital slit lamps, QuikVue provides an economic and portable imaging solution without compromising clarity for clinical communication and record-keeping. Ophthalmologists can quickly document disease progression, share findings with patients for better education and compliance, and build a visual archive to support long-term treatment planning.

WHITE AND BLUE ILLUMINATION

QuikVue Plus features both white and blue LED illumination. The white light projects a warm tone similar to halogen slit lamps, with two adjustable brightness levels to meet different examination needs. The blue light is ideal for capturing fluorescein-stained images, aiding in corneal staining assessments and contact lens fittings.

SMARTPHONE COMPATIBILITY

Thanks to its air cushion design, QuikVue Plus securely attaches to most smartphones on the market. Practitioners simply need to align the QuikVue Plus lens with the smartphone’s main camera. The main camera should be within 5 cm of the phone’s edge for proper alignment.

WORKING APPLICATION

QuikVue Plus is compatible with the default camera app on most smartphones, as well as the VisuDoc ophthalmic case management app developed by VisuScience. VisuDoc is available for download on both the App Store and Google Play.

POWER MANAGEMENT

QuikVue Plus uses a mini Li-ion rechargeable battery, which can be recharged via a USB Type-C cable. A light indicator next to the charging port turns from blue to green when charging is complete.

The switch button displays a steady blue light during normal operation. If the battery is low, the light will flicker to indicate that a recharge is needed.
